About Me & The Z

Myself

I am a 19 year old student attending Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) majoring in Mechanical Engineering. My home town is Plover, WI (if you have any idea where that is). I have always loved to building things ever since I was little and now i'm going to have the opportunity build one of my biggest things yet (the Z)

I was born to build things!

My passion for cars only hit me a couple of years ago, but boy did it hit me hard. My father owns a 1970 GTO which he started the restoration for far before I was born, but even when I was at the age where I could have helped him, I didn't. The GTO has been done for some years now and what a beautiful car it is! When I finally got into car, I only like true american muscle and nothing else! I'll admit that I hated pretty hard on just about everything else.

When I came to college I met a freshman that loved imports as much as I loved american muscle. After hanging out with him enough I figure it started to rub off on me. Time eventually made me realize how great Japanese cars can be, before I wouldn't have considered myself a car guy just because i really only like one type of car but now I think of my self to be somewhat versed in "car guy". I know I have much to learn and that's what gets me so excited.

The Pursuit of a Z

My search for the Z started when my friend (same one that turned me on to imports) showed me a picture of a 240z. I didn't think much of it then, but it the look stuck in my head and after perusing the web for pictures of them and seeing how beautiful they are. I decided to start looking for one, at the time I had no budget at all but then I created the Datsun fund. Which slowly grew till i had a couple hundred dollars, still no where near the amount of money i would need to buy one of these fine beauties. Ignoring my budget I constantly searched for the right Z, everyday I would check all the craigslist in a 400 mile radius. I saw deals come and go, ones that I should have jumped on but I don't think I was ready to buy one at time. Finally after about 6 months of hard searching and persistence I found one about an hour away from Milwaukee. After talking to the gentleman on the phone, I went to look at it where after some hard bargaining, I bought it.

  1. Wicked! When I graduated engineering I bought a Nissan - a 91 Nissan 180SX. It's so similar to the 240Z and has been my favorite car since. All the best with your project and enjoy restoring one of the best sports cars ever made!
